The Saint David's Day Eisteddfod is held at school with an open invitation to members of the community to enjoy the day's activities. The emphasis is on enjoyment and celebrating the children's achievements - usually all the children compete. Prior to the day, the children are very busy preparing for the written and art competitions. On the day, everyone has the opportunity to compete on an individual and group level.
Pupils of the three houses, namely Cledan, Peris and Ysig compete and by the end of the day, there is quite some anticipation as pupils and audience alike await the announcements of the winners of the Dolgoed Cup - for gaining the highest number of individual points, Cadwgan Chair- for the best written work and Argoed Shield - for the winning team.
This year the eisteddfod was held on Wednesday, September 18th, 2009. The audience enjoyed an entertaining day listening and watching all pupils singing and reciting, and several pupils performed on the piano, clarinet and recorder and disco dancing.
